Maitreyi College

Maitreyi College is a constituent women’s college of the University of Delhi, established in 1967 and located in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The college is named after the Vedic scholar Maitreyi, who symbolized the pursuit of knowledge over worldly possessions, reflecting the institution’s core philosophy of women’s empowerment through education.

Maitreyi College began its academic journey at Netaji Nagar with BA Pass and BSc General programs. Over time, it expanded into a well-developed institution with a sprawling 10-acre campus in Chanakyapuri. Today, the college stands as a prominent women’s institution, combining Vedic ideals of self-realization with modern education across arts, science, and commerce streams.

The college has earned distinction for academic innovation and quality. It pioneered the introduction of postgraduate diploma programs in nanotechnology and e-learning within Delhi University.
